The season started as rough as it could for the Amarillo Bulls on Saturday night.

Falling behind by two goals isn't a recipe for success, even in your home opener, but that's what happened to the Bulls against the Lone Star Brahmas the Cal Farley Complex Amarillo Civic Center. The Brahmas took the upper hand with two first period power play goals, as the Bulls never recovered in losing their North American Hockey League opener, 4-2.

Ben Pirko and Michal Stinil scored on power plays int he first period to give the Brahmas a 2-0 lead. The Bulls answered with a pair of power play goals of their own in the second period by Jason Brancheau and Brett Abdelnour.

However, those werern't enough to tie the game, as those goals were sandwiched around a pair of goals by Lone Star's Matt Guerra that made the difference in the game.

Brancheau and Abdelnour assisted on each other's goals for the Bulls, who return to action Wednesday when they face the Brookings Blizzard in the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, Minn.
