Rio Grande Valley high schools participate in a scholarship competition hosted by Harlingen Family Dentistry to showcase projects that apply The Way to Happiness precepts and the JROTC Core Values.
Ethan Rogers, a JROTC student at Edinburg North High School was the third-place winner of the competition.
The purpose of Rogers' project was his Global Leadership Adventures Initiative to assist the citizens of the Dominican Republic in the construction of environmental affordable housing. His project benefitted Cano Dulce by providing sustainable, safe and economical housing using discarded plastic bottles.
“We are very proud of these winners,” Dr. Juan D. Villarreal, sponsor of the event said. “We are proud and grateful for all the contestants who worked so hard with their instructors contributing to their community.”
