Willie B’s BBQ and G&S Glass Approved for the Small Business Renovation and Improvements Grant Program
The EEDC Board of Directors approved Willie B’s BBQ and G&S Glass, two dedicated Edinburg businesses for the Small Business Renovation and Improvements Grant, also known as the 5 & 10 Grant. The grant was created to encourage restoration, renovation and improvements of commercial property throughout the City of Edinburg through financial incentives at a cap of $10,000 per grant. The owner of Willie B’s BBQ, Ms. Gloria Gonzalez originally opened the restaurant with her husband in 2012 and applied for the program in hopes of receiving assistance to make needed exterior repairs and kitchen updates to keep her busy restaurant flourishing. The grant will cover air conditioning replacement, exterior paint, and a new kitchen range for Willie B’s BBQ. G&S Glass, founded by Mr. Gus Casas in 1990, will receive assistance with a showroom remodel which includes painting, windows, mirrors, building upgrades, shower doors, and a display case. This will help G&S Glass, the premier Auto Glass company in the Rio Grande Valley who services auto dealerships, remain competitive and improve the façade of the building. “These Small Business Renovation and Improvements Grants are critical to helping our local mom and pop shops, often long-time staples of our city, continue to grow and keep up-to-date with improvements,” said Edinburg EDC Board President and City Commissioner Jorge Luis Salinas. “This is a great program for our local businesses and we are proud to help our businesses succeed in any way we can,” he added.
