EDINBURG – English as a Second Language (ESL) continued partnership leads to incorporation of additional sessions for Edinburg Housing Authority residents.
Last year’s ESL program offered two sessions, however, this year a total of four sessions are currently being provided to adult residents living in the Edinburg Public Housing Community. The partnership between Edinburg Housing Authority and Region One Education Service Center has enabled for the expansion to be possible.
More than 35 residents are enrolled in the program in which they will learn how to speak, read, and write the general English language. The advantages of learning English are endless; adults can use these skills to help their children at home, for their professional career, and in their day to day lives.
“I think that residents benefit from this program because they are giving a second chance to learn and adopt a new language. This is an opportunity to further their education and expand their skills,” Said EHA Resident Services Coordinator Valeria Rodriguez.
ESL program has been offered for a couple of years and the growth is important because it represents that more residents are being impacted and are taking attention to the importance of acquiring a second language.
The Edinburg Housing Authority is looking forward to continuing partnering with organizations that will provide necessary guidance and support to the residents. The agency will continue in their efforts to help their residents achieve self-sufficiency.
