The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library’s Children’s Department invites the public to join in the fun as they celebrate El Día de los Niños. This event will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 5 p.m – 7 p.m. and will be held in the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium and City Hall courtyard.
El Día de los Niños (Children’s Day) is also known as El Día de los Libros Book Day is a celebration that emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds by linking families to diverse books, languages and cultures.
This event promises an evening of performances, music, and games. Shawn Elliot Russell kicks off the first hour with a performance of his book, “Be Still, Little Tree, Be Still.” This part of the evening will also include performance of “Ferdinand the Bull,” and dance performances from the Arte Dance Studio. The second hour, families are invited to the City Hall Courtyard where there will be game stations, treats, moon jumps, and a book giveaway provided by the South Texas Literacy Coalition.
