EDINBURG – The month of October marked the Feature Business of the Month for Hidalgo County Precinct 4. As petitioned by its members, the Edinburg Chamber recognized Commissioner Joseph Palacios and team for their efforts in roads, drainage, parks, infrastructure, special projects and outreach.

Commissioner Palacios has accomplished a record-breaking year with 26 completed road projects up to date for 2017. Precinct 4 broke ground last month for the Raymondville Drain which will create a second outfall from Hidalgo County to the Gulf of Mexico, creating tremendous flood relief for the entire county.

“The presentation of this award not only portrays great leadership but also demonstrates the contribution of unity as a precinct and the dedication to the quality of life for its citizens,” said Palacios.

As County Commissioner, Palacios serves as Vice Chair to the Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), President of the South Texas Judges’ and Commissioners’ Association, and Chairman of the Hidalgo – Willacy Finance Corporation.

As liaison to the Hidalgo County Head Start Program, Veterans Department, Texas A&M Agri Life Extension Program, Information Technology and WIC, Palacios prioritizes the needs and services of the departments and their direct impact to the residents of Hidalgo County.
