The people of House District 41 have spoken -- R.D. "Bobby" Guerra has been re-elected to serve as their State Representative for a third term in the Texas Legislature.

During his tenure, Representative Guerra has stood firm in his Democratic ideals while always maintaining strong relationships with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. Rep. Guerra is a strong proponent for small businesses in Texas. In 2015, he coauthored a bill that cut the franchise tax by 25%, which made business more attainable for small Texas business owners.

He has been honored to serve alongside some great lawmakers who also represent the Rio Grande Valley. Together, they have made positive strides to better their great communities. In 2013, the Valley delegation collaborated their efforts and created the newly-established UT-RGV and also brought forth the region's premier medical school. With the program's first cohort of medical students currently finishing their first semester, the RGV will soon be able to witness the lasting impact these future doctors will bring to the underserved area.

Representative Guerra will return to Austin at the start of 2017, as the 85th Legislative Session convenes on January 10th. Texas lawmakers will have 140 days to handle all legislative business before the May 29th deadline.

"I cannot express how thankful I am to my constituents for giving me the opportunity to serve this great community. As a life-long resident of the Valley, I share the values of the hard working people here and will carry that with me in the Texas House of Representatives. With the legislative session fast approaching, I will work hard to continue the efforts that we have made to move the Valley forward by ensuring all kids have access to quality education and that we are creating opportunity for everyone." Representative Guerra stated.

State Rep. R.D. “Bobby” Guerra is a Democrat who has represented District 41 since 2012. He currently serves on the House Committees on Public Health, and Insurance, as well as the procedural committee Local & Consent Calendars. He represents the cities of McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, Palmhurst, Palmview, Alton and Pharr.
