DUBLIN — Bangs and Early are each sending two competitors to the Region I-3A cross country meet based on their performances at the District 6-3A meet here Monday.
Lady Dragon Kayleah Hall won the girls portion of the 6-3A meet in a time of 13.08.69, almost full 25 seconds over runner-up Katie Galloway of Hamilton (13:33.19).
On the boys side, Dragon Dawson Light finished 10th in a time of 18:23.83 to claim a regional spot.
For Early, Longhorns Jeramiah Fowler and Bryan Trowbridge punched tickets for Lubbock. Fowler came in sixth in a time of 18:14.99 while Trowbridge was seventh in a time of 18:14.99.
The Region I-3A meet will take place at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Monday, Oct. 22.
The Lady Dragons finished fifth as a team with 130 points which trailed Comanche (36 points), Dublin (72), Coleman (91), and Hamilton (93).
Also competing for the Lady Dragons were Aliyah Galvan (27th, 15:26.14), Hadley King (31st, 15:40.69), Kimberly Diaz (32nd, 15:45.58), Ally Hull (39th, 16:07.83), Jaral-Sophia Canales (47th, 16:46.22) and Kenley Johnson (51st, 16:57.31).
The Lady Horns finished eighth with 178 points, as competitors included Jenna Wigham (17th, 14:43.08), Kenzie Poindexter (34th, 1:58.49), Skylar Preston (36th, 16:01.62), Hannah Middleton (42nd, 16:21.3), and Brionna Moore (49th, 16:51.46).
The Longhorns tallied a sixth-place team effort which trailed Dublin (42 points), Eastland (78), Comanche (80), Hamilton (92), and Coleman (103).
Also running for Early were Drew Bhatka (31st, 20:58.21), Luke Carlisle (34th, 21:08.4), Darryn Peters (35th, 21:09.15), and Logan Goode (44th, 25:04.09).
Other competitors for Bangs, which did not have enough runners to field a team, were Jay Belez (25th, 20:15.4) and Fidel Castaneda (43rd, 23:30.24).
