The Brownwood Lady Lions' eight-game win streak came to an end Friday night at Gordon Wood Stadium in the District 4-4A soccer opener, as the Abilene Wylie Lady Bulldogs rallied for a 3-2 victory.

The Lady Lions (9-2, 0-1), who have posted eight shutout victories on the season, led 1-0 after halftime and 2-0 in the second half, but surrendered the final three goals.

Maddy Garza and Aleyia Cotton recorded the goals for the Lady Lions, while Khloe Tobien and Channing Barron were credited with assists.

In goal, Barron tallied eight saves with three goals allowed.

“Wylie is a good team, hat's off to them for battling back from a two-goal deficit to get the win,” said Brownwood soccer head coach Brent Hardwick. “Anytime you let a good team like that hang around they can find a way to hurt you. We just had some defensive errors and mental lapses in the second half that sadly made the difference in the game. But we will regroup for Tuesday's game against Mineral Wells.”

The Lady Lions welcome Mineral Wells — which fell to defending state champion Stephenville, 1-0, Friday night — at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
