More than 150 beers available for sample

EDINBURG – The University DraftHouse Beer Fest will take place Saturday Oct. 13 at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard.

The beer festival will include porters, stouts, pilsners, ales, wheats, Belgians, ciders and lagers from more than 85 breweries from around the world.

Beyond beer, the ticket to the event will include live music from Del Castillo, a beer pouring acrobat, interactive games, a wine garden and food from local restaurants like University DraftHouse, Republic of the Rio Grande, Santa Fe Steakhouse, Willie B's BBQ, Kumori and more.

The event will also feature a silent auction, a Sam Adam's stein holding contest and mechanical bull presented by Guns & Oil Brewing Co.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Edinburg Arts Foundation and The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce.

The Edinburg Arts Foundation will use their portion of the proceeds for the renovation of the old Sam Houston Elementary building. The foundation has been raising funds to turn the building into a cultural arts center.

“Buying a ticket will support the remodeling of the old Sam Houston Building,” Edinburg Arts Foundation Board President Agustin Lozano said. “We need a cultural center, and purchasing a ticket to the event will help us make our community better for our future.”

The event welcomes patrons 21 and over. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Dustin Sekula Library (200 S. Closner), The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce (602 W. University Dr.) and University DraftHouse. Purchase tickets online at universitydrafthousebeerfest.com.
