EDINBURG – In anticipation of tonight’s expected rain fall, more shelters are opening their doors to Hidalgo County residents in need of refuge. Residents can go to the Donna Recreation Center located at 307 Miller Avenue in Donna and the First Baptist Church located at 600 S. Kansas in Weslaco.

Resident seeking assistance with weather related issues, sandbag distribution or shelter information can call the Hidalgo County Call Center at (956) 292-7750. The Call Center will be open until 6 p.m. but calls will be answered 24 hours.

The following road closures have been reported:

Road Closures Pct. 1 –

FM 493 and Stites Road in Donna.

Road Closures Pct. 3 –

8 1/2 from Conway Road-Trosper Road

8 Mile Trosper Road-Los Ebanos Road

Los Ebanos Road from 9-10

9 Mile from Inspiration Road to Conway Road

Inspiration Road from 5-6

Road Closures Pct. 4 –

Mile 13 from Rooth Road-Ware Road

Mile 17 ½ from Ware Road-Hoehn Road

The following offices and locations are closed due to inclement weather:

Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 Place 1 closed at 12 p.m.

All Hidalgo County Head Start Centers closed at 1 p.m.
