An Amarillo police officer suffered minor injuries Monday after he was dragged by a car driven by a man with outstanding out-of-state warrants.
APD officers responded to a call in the 1600 block of East Amarillo Boulevard, according to a report.
The officers located Shaila Schlenz, 25, and Charles Abdnor, 26, in a vehicle. Both gave false names to the officers.
As officers attempted to remove Abdnor from the vehicle so he could be identified, he accelerated the vehicle, dragging an officer and causing him to fall to the ground.
The suspects fled west from the scene and then south on North Mirror Street. Officers located the vehicle abandoned at S.E. Third Avenue and Mirror Street.
Officers located Schlenz in a backyard in the 300 block of South Aldredge Street and took her into custody. Abdnor was pursued and taken into custody in the same block.
Abdnor was found to have two warrants for burglary and one for arson out of Liberal, Kansas, according to APD. He was arrested for his warrants and on additional charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, fraudulent use/possession of identifying information, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Schlenz was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle and fraudulent use/possession of identifying information.
Both were booked into the Potter County Detention Center. The vehicle the suspects were in was found to be stolen out of Kansas.
