Dancentre of Edinburg’s Junior Elite team completed its 2018 competition season by earning the National Championship at the Starbound National Talent Competition in San Antonio, Texas According to studio owners Yvette Iannelli and Yvonne Guajardo, the team entered the competition with 3 group routines, one duet, and seven solos. Every routine earned the highest ranking of Elite Gold. Each team won first place in their respective divisions, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Folklorico. In addition, Dancentre swept the overall competition by placing first, second, and third overall with their routines. In the teen solo category, Daniela Albert won third overall. In the junior category, Reagan Esquierdo placed 7th overall, Alana Albert placed 4th overall, and Camille Reynolds won High Score Pre-teen Elite Solo category—National Champion! The duet of Alana Albert and Camille Reynolds also won High Score Junior Elite Duet-National Champion with a dance they choreographed themselves, and the girls earned scholarships towards their dance education.

There are three levels of competition, Intermediate, Competitive, and Elite. Dancentre competed in the Elite level, which is the most challenging and competitive division. Dancentre’s Junior Elite dance team is comprised of dancers ages 10-15 competing in styles of dance ranging from Ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, lyrical, folklorico. Team members include: Daniela Albert, Avrianne de la Rosa, Reagan Esquierdo, Alexia de la Rosa, Alana Albert, Camille Reynolds, Adissyn de la Rosa. The dancers trained together all year to accomplish their goal of winning a national championship. They took a few days off and are now eager for their new performance season. Dancentre invites you to see our dancers perform in “Peter and the Wolf” on October 6 at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex, and “The Nutcracker” December 15-16 at the Ciro Treviño Performing Arts Center at Edinburg High School.
