There is still time to create your design and enter Amarillo College’s second annual Chalk It Up sidewalk art contest which will take place July 28.
“We had a great turnout last year, and we were amazed by what our artists could do with chalk,” said Joe Wyatt, AC communications coordinator.
“We are excited to have people come visit our campus, and wanted people to have a cultural activity in the summer, so we started this. We were amazed by the turnout and the people that came to watch the artists and expect the popularity of the event will continue to grow,” he said.
Artists can enter at info.actx.edu/chalk entry until Friday July 20 or when 40 teams are registered.
A sketch of the proposed design is required to enter and entries should be appropriate for viewing of all ages. Accepted entries will draw their entries from 8 a.m. to noon on the walks near the clock tower on the Oeschger Family Mall.
First place will receive $500. Second place is $200, with third place winning $100 and the “fan favorite receiving a $50 prize.
