The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is currently coordinating with H-E-B Stores (Valleywide), local charities and state/county emergency management officials in response to the current flooding event impacting communities in Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties.

At 12 Noon, June 20, 2018, the Texas Division of Emergency Management announced it would be engaging in an “escalated response” level due to the severe weather.

The Food Bank RGV will be making emergency food relief bags with bottled water for distribution in the hardest hit areas. Some areas have reported up to 4 feet of water in their homes.

The Food Bank RGV is in URGENT need of volunteers, monetary donations and specific food donations at this time.

Donate only foods and items on this list. They may be found at all H-E-B Stores Valleywide from Friday, June 22 through July 1. Other donations can be dropped off at 724 N. Cage Blvd., Pharr, Texas, 8 am to 5 pm Mon-Fri and 8 am to Noon, Saturday:

1. Soups/Tuna/Potted Meat/Vienna Sausages (easy open)

2. Peanut butter in plastic jars

3. Fruit cups (easy open)

4. Bleach (1 gallon)

5. Paper Towels (no wipes)
