During a Special Meeting of the City Council on Friday, June 15, 2018, the Edinburg City Council appointed Edinburg resident Mr. Pilar Rodriguez as the new City Manager.

 

Mr. Rodriguez comes to Edinburg with a wealth of knowledge in city government, previously having served the City of McAllen as Assistant City Manager, Director of Public Works, Deputy City Engineer and Director of Traffic. 

Most recently, Mr. Rodriuez worked as the Executive Director of the Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority. 

He is a licensed civil engineer and currently serves as Volunteer Firefighter, a structural specialist for Texas Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team and as a team leader for the Texas Public Works Strike Team. He is a member of the Texas Public Works Association and the State Firefighters & Fire Marshals Association. 

Mr. Rodriguez received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Texas A&I University – Kingsville.

 

“Mr. Rodriguez was a finalist for the City Manager position in Edinburg three years ago.” Mayor Richard Molina said. “It was long overdue that he brings his expertise to Edinburg. The public will not be disappointed with his appointment.”

 

“This Council wants to get back to the basics. Mr. Rodriguez will bring the knowledge, stability and guidance Edinburg needs, ” said Council Member Gilbert Enriquez.

 

Pilar Rodriguez will begin work in the City of Edinburg on July 2.
