Teams from Liga MX on Independence Day

EDINBURG – The biggest game in HEB Park history will be played Wednesday July 4 as Club America and Pachuca will face off at 6:30 p.m.

“As you know Club America is the biggest team in Latino America and Pachuca has a great history as well as a winning team,” RGVFC Toros President Bert Garcia said. “This will be the biggest game in HEB Park history.”

Garcia said having a team of this magnitude play at HEB Park will only benefit the fans. Since day one of HEB Park, frequent questionnaires always put Club America at the top of the list of teams fans would want to see.

A winning tradition for Club America has helped put fans in the seats of Estadio Azteca, the team's home field for many years.

There was always a plan to open HEB Park by hosting Club America but a team of that magnitude always schedules their friendlies years in advance. This event will be part of touring series called Tour Aguila.

This friendly is expected to sell out if any indication of previous Liga MX teams playing at HEB Park.

Contracts for what players will attend the friendly were made to have the best players on the pitch on Independence Day. But due to 2018 being a World Cup year there are three players in question whether or not they will make the trip to the Rio Grande Valley. The Round of 16 for World Cup begins June 30.

More details are still to be worked but Garcia was able to confirm that Club Santos, from Torreon will play the following week at HEB Park.

Tickets will go on sale Monday May 28 at hebparkrgv.com.
