The City of Edinburg and the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library invite the community to the 11th Annual Commemorative Memorial Day Ceremony scheduled for Friday, May 25, at 10:00 a.m.
The ceremony will include the reading of names of all service men from Edinburg who lost their lives in wars starting with World War I. Families of the most recent fallen heroes as well as of Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients, Sgt. Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez and Pvt. Pedro Cano will be present. The melancholy sounds of “Taps” will be followed by the placement of a wreath in front of the library’s “Forever in Our Hearts” Wall of Honor by America’s Last Patrol.
Letty Leija, Director of Library and Cultural Arts, invites the community to this very moving ceremony. “It is important that we continue to remember and honor our Fallen Heroes and never forget their sacrifice for it is through their bravery that we continue to enjoy our freedom.”
We would like to thank the families of our fallen heroes for their presence at our annual event and to HEB for their generous annual donation to this event.
So, please make sure to join us as we remember our fallen heroes and thank their families for their great sacrifice.
