EDINBURG – On Monday, Feb. 26, a Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office K9 Deputy, assigned to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, conducted a traffic stop on a white Porsche in the area of Ware Road and Expressway 83 in McAllen. The Deputy utilized his canine partner to conduct a free air inspection of the sports car. The narcotic detector K-9 alerted to the odor of narcotics emitting from the vehicle. As a result of the search, the Deputy found two speaker boxes concealing 14 compressed bundles of methamphetamine, weighing approximately 37 pounds. The driver was detained and the methamphetamines seized as evidence. The case is under investigation.
