The City of Edinburg is ready to welcome thousands of runners this weekend for the #1 Road Race in the State of Texas. More than 6,900 are already registered for the All-America 10K/Fun Run and Miracle Mile Races happening this coming Saturday, February 3.
With only three days left to register runners from near and far are gearing up to try their luck at more than $30 thousand awarded in the 10K or 6.2-mile race.
As of today, 2,555 have registered for the 10K, 4,184 people are registered to participate in the family-oriented 3.4-mile Fun Run, and 161 participants have signed up for the Miracle Mile.
The Miracle Mile Race starts at 8 a.m. inside the Richard R. Flores Stadium. This race involves four laps around the field and is for children and adults with special needs.
The 10K Race will follow promptly at 9 a.m. on Palm Drive, while the Fun Run will start at 11:30 a.m. also on Palm Drive. The awards ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the stadium.
Runners can register online until Thursday, Feb. 1, and in person, at the Edinburg Sports & Wellness Center (315 East Palm Drive) where they will also pick up their race packets. The last day to register for all three events is Friday, February 3, at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, the following streets will be closed along the event route starting at 7:45 a.m.
Cano between Closner/10th
10th between Cano/University
University between 10th/7th
Kuhn between 7th/6th
6th between Kuhn/Peter
Peter between 6th/8th
8th between Peter/Kuhn
Kuhn between 8th/Closner
The roads along Closner Boulevard, north of Freddy Gonzalez Drive will reopen immediately after the last 10K runner comes through. The roads to the south of Freddy Gonzalez Drive will remain closed for the 11:30 a.m. Fun Run. These streets will reopen immediately after the 3.4-mile race.
Meantime, participant and spectator parking is available in areas around the Edinburg Sports & Wellness Center and at the Richard R. Flores Stadium.
