Lt. Col. Gary Don Dickey, son of Norman and Joannie Dickey of Howe, recently retired from the US Army after 27 years and 7 months of service.


Gary Dickey spend more than 12 years in active duty and he was a reservist for 15 years.


Gary Dickey was born in Sherman in 1967 and graduated from Howe High School. He attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville and graduated in 1990. He was then commissioned to be a military officer.


During his military service, Gary Dickey was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and Ft. Hood. He was deployed were in Southwest Asia in Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.


Gary Dickey has one son, Michael of San Antonio and one daughter, Kaydee of Killeen. He lives in Killeen with his wife, Susie Rideout of Howe.


Gary Dickey currently works as a federal employee for the Department of Treasury in Austin.
