EDINBURG--Friday afternoon representatives from the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, the City of Edinburg, Edinburg CISD, Bert Ogden Auto Group and Fiesta Dealerships gathered at Bert Ogden GMC in Edinburg to announce the two headliners for this year’s Fiesta Edinburg festival.
The event--which commemorates Edinburg’s history as the Hidalgo County seat--has been sponsored by Bert Ogden and Fiesta Dealerships for the last six years.
Alex Rios, chair-elect of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, said it’s important for community and business leaders to come together to better serve the city.
“I want to point out how important it is to have business partners and community leaders that help contribute to Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley,” he said.
Recently elected mayor and former city council member, Richard Molina gave a message on shopping local and the ripple effects it has on the community. Bert Ogden has seven locations in Edinburg--more than any other city in the Valley.
“This is all about partnerships, and that’s not a bunch of lip service,” he assured. “I’ve bought six vehicles here (Bert Ogden Edinburg) because I believe in shopping Edinburg, not just talking about it.”
Robert Lucio, executive manager of Bert Ogden Auto Group and Brownsville-native, said Edinburg has a special place in the company’s heart.
“We do this to give back to the City of Edinburg,” “We’re committed to the community, we’re committed to the area--but Edinburg is where we call home.”
Lastly--after much anticipation--the headliners for the festival were announced.
Two popular, four-time grammy award-winning Tejano bands, Intocable and La Mafia, will be playing at the Edinburg Fiesta festival on February 22-25, 2018. A concert pass is $25 for both shows, and the entrance fee for the festival is $5, while children under 10 years-old get in free of charge.
