PHARR – The hustle and bustle was in full effect at the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley Tuesday as efforts are being taken to provide food to counties after category four hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast Friday.

Currently the food bank is accepting bottled water, peanut butter & jelly individual, easy to open tuna, potted meat and vienna sausages, easy open fruit cans, powdered milk, cereal, bleach, paper towels and toilet paper.

The food bank and H-E-B will deliver donations to food banks in Corpus Christi and Victoria. Collections will be taken through Sunday Sept. 3. Valley residents can also drop off specific donations at any Hidalgo, Cameron or Willacy county H-E-B stores.

Online monetary donations for the Food Bank of Corpus Christi and Food Bank of Golden Crescent can be made at www.foodbankrgv.com. Currently the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley has not been dispatched to Houston.
