EDINBURG – The City of Edinburg along with Hidalgo County have set up sandbag distribution locations in anticipation of tropical storm Harvey.

City crews have three locations available for pick up including City of Edinburg Service Center (1201 N. Doolittle Rd.), Freddy Gonzalez Park (1401 S. 18th Ave.) and HIDCO Elections Administration-Annex Building (317 N. Closner Blvd.).

Residents are allowed three bags and businesses five. The sand and shovels are provided by the city but residents will have to fill their own bags. Assistance will be provided to the elderly and disabled.

The city will also allow for residents to bring their own bags to fill.

Residents must present their driver license as proof of residency and businesses must show letterhead or business card as proof of business affiliation.

Hidalgo County has set up sandbag stations at the Northeast Corner of La Homa and 7 mile line in Mission and the Precinct 4 Annex Building (1124 N. Md, Edinburg).

All distribution centers are open now until 7 p.m.
