EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley baseball team announced on Thursday the dates for the Derek Matlock Baseball Academy that will take place at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

The first of the four camps will be on August 19 with the UTRGV Summer Showcase Camp with registration starting at 10 a.m. at UTRGV Baseball Stadium. The showcase camp is for campers in grades ninth-12th and will cost $90. Each camper must bring their own equipment, including glove, cleats, hat, helmet and anything else they feel necessary.
The showcase camp will give campers an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a collegiate coaching staff. Campers will be taken through a pro-style workout before putting their skills to the test in showcase games in the afternoon.
They will also be hosting a Fall Hitting Academy that will run on September 10, 17, 24 and October 1. It will cost $150 for all four dates with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m. and sessions running from 6-8 p.m.
