EDINBURG – The Edinburg Rotary recently honored the valedictorians and the salutatorians from the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District’s four high schools during its luncheon meeting at the Echo Hotel in Edinburg.

“The ceremony was wonderful. Edinburg Rotary has been fantastic in honoring our students throughout the year,” Edinburg North High School Principal Mark Micallef said.  “Our valedictorians and our salutatorians have worked tirelessly for four years and it’s great to have the community recognize them.”

The students’ recognition is part of the Edinburg Rotary’s Student of the Month Program, which highlights two senior students from each high school.

“We are extremely grateful to the Edinburg Rotary for giving us the opportunity to showcase a lot of our students, programs and staff throughout the school year,” Edinburg High School Principal Yesenia Molina said. “It is because of the hard work that we do in our schools that we are able to showcase what we do every day.”

Previously, the Rotary recognized the top 10 ranked seniors from each high school throughout the school year. However, this year the organization spotlighted 10 of the District’s various programs, highlighting many more students, teachers and staff.

“The students feel honored to be showcased for their talents outside of their classroom,” Economedes High School Principal Dr. Anthony Garza said. “This year Rotary recognized different departments, such as Fine Arts, Athletics and Special Education.”

The Edinburg Rotary recognized the following students:

Nicole Lopez, Edinburg High School Valedictorian
