EDINBURG – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District’s Fine Arts Department took center stage recently during the Edinburg Rotary luncheon meeting at the Echo Hotel.

“It was so exciting to see all of this happening and to see how we’re educating the community as far as what ECISD provides in the fine arts,” said Edinburg CISD Fine Arts Director Nelinda Villarreal.  “We saw many works from students in the visual arts. We had (students) from choir, orchestra, band, dance, theater, representing all the different areas. The students are great examples of what’s going on with the Fine Arts.”

The students’ recognition is part of the Edinburg Rotary’s Student of the Month Program, which highlights two senior students from each high school.

“For the rest of this year, we have the One-Act Play Contest coming up.  We are going to be hosting the Open-Act Play,” Villarreal said. “We have mariachi concerts. We have band, orchestra and choir contests. We also have some end of the year productions in our Performing Arts Centers.”
