EDINBURG – The Edinburg Rotary highlighted eight students recently from the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District’s UIL Academics Program.

“These great students really exemplify what UIL Academics is all about, such as their excitement and their willingness to learn new things,” said Edinburg CISD Fine Arts/UIL Academics Director Nelinda Villarreal.  “They’re very competitive. And they’re passionate and eager for learning. That’s what UIL Academics is about and that’s what the student who participates in these competitive events is all about.”

The students’ recognition is part of the Edinburg Rotary’s Student of the Month Program, which highlights several students from each high school.

“We try to create as many opportunities and offer as many events,” Villarreal said. “In the high school, we offer 20 events.”
