The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library Literary Knitters Club is seeking experienced and beginner knitters. Each year, club members meet for five weeks to knit and loom wearable items that are donated to a local organization. This year, members of the club will knit hats and scarves for the Edinburg Children’s Hospital.
There is no charge to become part of the knitting program. The only requirement is that you have the desire to learn and be willing to show others the joy of sharing.
As part of the fun, participants are encouraged to peruse the library collection, which provides wonderful resources for all types of hobbies. For those who prefer to do things online, you can visit the Library’s EBSCO Hobbies and Crafts Resource Center Database, which is easily accessible from the comfort of your home. The database features “how-to” resources for every hobby enthusiast.
Classes start on Monday, January 9, 2017, and members meet everyMonday at the Sekula Memorial Library. Class starts promptly at 6 p.m.and end at 8 p.m. Students are encouraged to register soon as space is limited. You may also want to bring your own loom and hook as supplies are limited. Donations of supplies such as yarn, looms, and hooks are also appreciated.
Anyone interested in registering, providing instructional assistance, or learning more about this program should contact Virginia Bishop at (956) 383-6246 or stop by the library at 1906 S. Closner Boulevard in Edinburg.
