The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library announces a special appearance by local author, Charlie Sanchez. Sanchez will be at the library on Thursday, Dec. 15 to promote his latest release “The Lone Sendero.”
The book is a collection of stories of his hunting adventures in the wild chaparral of South Texas. Laugh, learn and enjoy the camaraderie as Charlie and his companions hunt, stalk and bring down the wise and elusive whitetail buck and learn secrets revealed to him by his great-grandfather, El Welo Mencho.
The book presentation and signing will take place in the Friends of the Library Meeting Room from 6 – 8 p.m.
Charlie Sanchez was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, about a stone’s throw from the Texas-Mexico border. He is a graduate of Edinburg High School, Class of 1964. He is a big game hunter with an expertise in whitetail deer. His experience runs over a time span of 60-plus years with countless stories and trophies. Through the years, he has been a mentor to the men and youth of his family. Charlie’s book shows how the father-and-son bond grows strong when each has only the other to depend on, as a weekend outing turns into a lesson, and a hunt turns into a great memory.
