McAllen Holiday Parade set for Dec. 3

McALLEN – The McAllen Holiday Parade has been lauded as the largest illuminated holiday and helium balloon parade in Texas, Saturday Dec. 3 the Fighting Aggie Band will lead the way down Bicentennial Boulevard.

Behind them will be more than 50 lighted floats, 36 character balloons, 13 bands and of course, Ezekiel Elliot, Cole Beasley and Darius Jackson of the Dallas Cowboys.

Other artists include Carlos Ponce, Cody Veith, Peppa Pig, Raul Brindis, Jessica Carrillo and Marjorie De Sousa.

Tickets for stadium seating are available now through or the convention center box office and range from $8 to $33 plus fees.

Also at the parade will be six tribute bands impersonating The Beatles, George Strait and Neil Diamond.

Also before and after the parade Christmas in the Park will take place Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Dec. 3 from noon to midnight.

Friday Dec. 2 the music begins at 5 p.m. with Tony Longoria, 5:30 p.m. Katie Blackwell, 6 p.m. TR3N, 7 p.m. Gabriela Ariana, 8 p.m. Tony Perez Band and 9 p.m. Los Palominos.

Saturday Dec. 3 the music begins at noon with Greg Garza, 1 p.m. Closed Campus, 2 p.m. La Nueva Era, 3 p.m. Alex Flores, 7:30 Ropin the Wind, 8:30 p.m. Leandro Rios, 9:30 Justin Bieber impersonator, 10 p.m. The Beatles impersonators and a closing at 11 p.m.

Traffic closures will begin Friday Dec. 2 at 6 a.m. and include La Vista, Tamarack and Quince all closed between Bicentennial and 23rd Street. Saturday beginning at 6:30 a.m. Bicentennial from La Vista to Business 83 will reduce to one lane north and south and beginning at 5 p.m. Bicentennial between Nolana and Houston will be shut down completely. Also shut down completely will be Business 83 between 16th and 23rd Streets.

A free park & ride Polar Express Shuttle will be offered by Metro McAllen at South Texas College.
